Adam Zampa explained his IPL 2026 absence, saying the financial package did not meet expectations after playing for SRH last season.
Adam Zampa has chosen the Pakistan Super League(PSL) over the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after evaluating workload and financial returns. Zampa did not enter the mini-auction. He last played in IPL 2016 and most recently featured for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Across 22 IPL games, Zampa has taken 31 wickets at an economy of 8.38. He represented 4 franchises but did not secure a long-term role. Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for INR 2.4 crore last season, but he failed to deliver consistent performances. He played 2 matches, took 2 wickets, and recorded an economy of 11.75.
This year, Adam Zampa has opted to play PSL 2026 for Karachi Kings instead. He explained his decision, pointing out that the commitment did not justify the financial return. Zampa believes the compensation does not match the demands of staying in India for an extended period.
“I pulled out of the IPL this year. To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, I just don’t get the money that is there for other skill sets. And for the amount of time that the IPL takes, it just didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing it,” Zampa said on the ARY Podcast.

“I was going to have a break, but PSL was on the radar about a month ago. It all happened pretty quickly, but I’m enjoying it,” he added.
Notably, Adam Zampa is making a strong impact in PSL 2026 with Karachi Kings. Until now, he has picked up 3 wickets in 2 matches and maintained an economy of 4.62.
