Ajinkya Rahane faced a Rs 12 lakh fine after Kolkata Knight Riders maintained a slow over-rate in their IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The penalty came after KKR’s fourth loss of the season.
Match officials found KKR guilty under Article 2.22 of the Code of Conduct. As this marked their first offense under Rahane this season, authorities imposed only a monetary fine.

KKR became the fourth team penalized for slow over-rates this season. Shreyas Iyer has already faced fines twice, while Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya have each received one penalty. The revised rules no longer include a one-match ban for a third offense.
Meanwhile, in the match, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a 32-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 on April 14 in Chennai. CSK used a strong power play of 72 to reach 192/5 on a two-paced pitch. KKR failed to chase the target and finished at 160/7 in 20 overs, falling short.
