BCCI Fines RR Manager Romi Bhinder for Phone Use in Dugout | Reports

BCCI has reportedly taken action against RR manager Romi Bhinder for dugout phone use but accepted medical explanation after ACSU investigation.

Rajasthan Royals manager Romi Bhinder is reportedly facing a fine and a warning after using a mobile phone in the dugout during IPL 2026. The incident drew attention as he sat next to young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who also looked at the screen. The act breached BCCI’s PMOA rules.

The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit reviewed the matter after issuing a show-cause notice. Bhinder replied within 48 hours and submitted medical records to support his explanation.

Investigators accepted his response and concluded that his health condition required phone use in the dugout. Officials then decided against strict action and limited the penalty to a fine and warning.

According to reports from The Times of India, a senior BCCI official confirmed that the ACSU completed the probe and informed the franchise of the outcome.

“The ACSU conducted the investigation, and a formal communication has been sent to the franchise. Binder received a fine and a warning for using his phone in the dugout; however, investigators were convinced his medical condition required it, so there were no severe consequences,” the report quoted the official.

Notably, the officials did not take any action regarding Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the dugout phone incident. The senior official added the youngster remains inexperienced and the franchise should guide him better on rules. The board chose not to pursue the matter further, avoiding unnecessary pressure on a young player.
