Cameron Green was the most expensive player in an IPL 2026 mock auction.
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green emerged as the top pick in an IPL 2026 mock auction. He fetched a staggering Rs 30.5 crore in the simulation.
The mock auction featured several former India and IPL stars. It offered insights into potential team strategies ahead of the real event. Green was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mock drill.
Chennai Super Kings focused on balanced squad building. Under revised IPL rules, an overseas player’s final salary is capped. Bids can exceed Rs 18 crore, but the contract value has a hard ceiling.
Uthappa’s Mock Auction Strategy For Cameron Green
Former India batter Robin Uthappa was part of the mock auction panel. He explained his aggressive bidding for Green.
“I knew CSK would also go after a middle-order all-rounder. I thought they would go somewhere around 25–28 crore,” Uthappa said at the Star Sports Mock Auction.
“Realistically, I think they would go up to around Rs 20 crore in the actual auction, because they would want to keep space for other Indian and overseas players as well. But in the mock auctions, I was ready to go up to 35 crore for a player like Green. I think Cameron Green should bat at No. 3 in the order,” he added.

Uthappa later reiterated his stance. “I wanted Cameron Green because if you have the highest purse, you should go for the best player in the auction,” he said.
The actual IPL 2026 mini-auction is scheduled for December 16. It will start at 2:30 p.m. Green is expected to attract fierce bidding despite the salary cap rules.
