IPL 2026: More Updates on M Chinnaswamy Stadium Expected on March 16

Authorities discussed infrastructure upgrades and safety measures, with further updates expected on March 16 regarding the M Chinnaswamy Stadium’s readiness for IPL 2026.

Officials discussed the return of matches to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of the IPL 2026 season. A meeting took place on March 13 between the Karnataka Government’s Expert Committee, the Karnataka State Cricket Association and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The stadium has not hosted matches since the stampede during RCB’s title celebrations.

The discussion focused on preparations for hosting matches during IPL 2026. KSCA officials presented details about infrastructure improvements at the stadium. The presentation also explained safety arrangements planned for spectators and match operations.

Authorities reviewed the changes under Phase-1 of the compliance framework. Representatives from Royal Challengers Bengaluru also attended the meeting. Their operational partners outlined plans for organising IPL fixtures at the stadium. KSCA confirmed that talks were productive.

“During the meeting, KSCA made a detailed presentation on the infrastructural upgradations/arrangements and safety measures undertaken at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, in line with the recommendations of the Expert Committee that are to be implemented under Phase-I of the compliance framework,” a KSCA statement read.

“Representatives of RCB and their associated operational agencies also presented their preparedness and operational plans for the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming IPL matches,” it added.

Officials expect further updates regarding the venue and match arrangements on March 16.
