Gujarat Titans moved closer to the top 2 finish with a dominant 89-run victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Powered by brilliant batting displays from Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, GT posted a massive 229/4 before bowling CSK out for 140 in just 13.4 overs.
Gujarat Titans made a flying start after being asked to bat first, with skipper Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitching together a superb 125-run opening partnership. Gill looked in destructive touch from the beginning and raced to his fifty in only 23 balls. The GT captain smashed 64 off 37 deliveries, hitting seven fours and three sixes before falling to Spencer Johnson in the 13th over.

Sudharsan then carried the innings forward with another composed knock at the top. The left-hander reached his half-century in 35 balls and eventually scored 84 off 53 deliveries, including seven boundaries and four sixes.
Jos Buttler provided the late acceleration with a brutal unbeaten 57 from just 27 balls at a strike rate of 211.11. Buttler’s innings included five fours and four sixes as GT crossed the 200-run mark in the 18th over and finished with 229/4.
For Chennai Super Kings, Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson and Anshul Kamboj picked up one wicket each. However, the bowlers struggled badly in the death overs, while CSK also conceded 13 wides and a no-ball.
CSK Suffer Heavy Defeat While Chasing
Chasing 230, CSK suffered a nightmare start as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Sanju Samson for a golden duck on the very first ball. Siraj struck twice more in the powerplay, removing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Urvil Patel as Chennai slumped to 29/3 in only 2.4 overs.

Matthew Short tried to counterattack with 24 off 14 balls, while Shivam Dube briefly raised hopes with a sensational 47 off just 17 deliveries, smashing four fours and four sixes.
However, Rashid Khan changed the game completely by dismissing Dube with the help of a stunning running catch from Gill at extra cover. Rashid finished with 3/18, while Siraj and Kagiso Rabada also claimed three wickets each.
CSK eventually folded for 140 in 13.4 overs, suffering one of their heaviest defeats of the season. Siraj was named Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of 3/26.
