Sanju Samson’s unbeaten century and Akeal Hosein’s four-wicket haul power CSK to a crushing 103-run win over MI.
Chennai Super Kings delivered a commanding all-round performance to thrash Mumbai Indians by 103 runs in Match 33 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 23.
Batting first after losing the toss, CSK posted a formidable 207/6 in their 20 overs, powered by a sensational unbeaten century from Sanju Samson. The wicketkeeper-batter anchored the innings brilliantly, scoring 101* off 54 deliveries, including 10 fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 187.03. Samson held one end firmly while wickets fell at regular intervals.
Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad provided early momentum with a quick 22 off 14 balls, while Dewald Brevis chipped in with a brisk 21 off 11. Contributions from Kartik Sharma (18) and Jamie Overton (15) helped CSK cross the 200-run mark. For MI, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar (2/25) and Ashwani Kumar (2/37) were the pick of the bowlers, while Jasprit Bumrah managed 1/31.

In reply, Mumbai Indians’ chase never got going as they crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 104 in 19 overs. The early breakthroughs from Akeal Hosein proved decisive, as he ran through the top and middle order with figures of 4/17 in his four overs.
MI lost three wickets for just 11 runs inside the first three overs, including Quinton de Kock, Danish Malewar, and Naman Dhir. Suryakumar Yadav (35 off 30) and Tilak Varma (37 off 29) tried to rebuild with a 73-run stand for the fourth wicket, but once Varma fell, the innings collapsed rapidly.
Noor Ahmad (2/23), Mukesh Choudhary (1/31), and Anshul Kamboj (1/10) supported Hosein effectively, ensuring MI never recovered. The lower order failed to offer resistance as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals.
