CSK vs RCB Row: Chennai Super Kings File Complaint to BCCI Over ‘Dosa Idli’ Song

CSK filed a complaint with BCCI over the ‘Dosa Idli’ song played during the IPL 2026 match vs RCB at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Chennai Super Kings have approached the BCCI after a controversy during their IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The franchise objected to a song by the venue’s DJ.

The song, “Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney, chutney”, played before CSK’s innings on April 5, prompting the complaint. RCB later won the match by 43 runs. CSK raised concerns about the song’s timing.

CSK managing director Kasi Viswanathan said DJs should support the home team but avoid targeting opposition players. Another official added that such platforms should not promote remarks that undermine rival teams.

“The DJs are usually around to support the home team. But at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was different. Certain comments were made against our players. Considering it, we have written to the BCCI to have a look into it,” Viswanathan told the Indian Express.

“They (DJs) are not there to undermine the rivals or insult them,” another CSK official was quoted as saying.

A senior IPL official confirmed that the board has received the complaint and has started reviewing the matter.

Notably, the ‘Dosa Idli’ song has drawn criticism for promoting South Indian stereotypes. The issue dates back to last year, when RCB wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma sang the song in a franchise video while answering a question about Chennai. The clip triggered backlash online. During a CSK–RCB match at Chepauk later that year, the song played after Jitesh’s dismissal. CSK officials stepped in soon after and directed their DJ to avoid comments on opposition players or fans.
