David Warner Still Blocked By SRH On Instagram? Former SRH Captain Makes Stunning Claim

David Warner Arrested for Drunk Driving in Maroubra, Found Nearly Twice Over Legal Limit

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner sparked fresh discussion over his fallout with the franchise after claiming that the team’s Instagram page still has him blocked.

Former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner grabbed attention on social media on Sunday after revealing that the franchise still appears to have him blocked on Instagram. Warner shared a screenshot of SRH’s Instagram profile on his story, where the page appeared as a “private” account from his profile, something users generally see when they are blocked by another account.

The Australian opener later added more fuel to the speculation after replying to a fan in the comments section of his latest Instagram post. One user tagged SRH and urged the franchise to “unblock” Warner. Responding to the comment, the veteran cricketer wrote, “they would never unblock me”.

David Warner’s Social Media Post Sparks Fan Reactions

Warner’s remarks quickly went viral among cricket fans, with many revisiting his complicated relationship with the Hyderabad-based franchise. Despite becoming one of SRH’s greatest-ever players, the left-handed batter’s association with the team ended on bitter terms several years ago.

The Australian veteran has not featured in the IPL since 2024 and has since focused on franchise cricket across the globe. Recently, Warner participated in the Pakistan Super League before continuing his appearances in various T20 competitions worldwide.

However, his latest Instagram activity once again brought his SRH chapter back into the spotlight, especially considering his enormous contribution to the franchise during his playing days.

How David Warner Became SRH’s Biggest Match Winner

Warner joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and quickly transformed into the face of the franchise. A year later, he was appointed captain and immediately helped establish SRH as a serious IPL contender.

The high point of his captaincy came in 2016 when he led the side to its maiden IPL title. Warner was instrumental throughout the tournament and finished as the second-highest run-scorer that season. At the time, SRH did not possess the explosive batting depth they are known for today, which meant the team relied heavily on Warner’s consistency at the top alongside a disciplined bowling attack.

Over the years, Warner also became SRH’s highest run-scorer and one of the most successful overseas players in IPL history. He won the Orange Cap three times in 2015, 2017, and 2019, underlining his dominance as a T20 batter.

His aggressive leadership, attacking batting, and consistency made him one of the most celebrated captains in the franchise’s history.

The 2021 Fallout That Changed Everything

Despite the successful partnership, the relationship between Warner and the SRH management deteriorated rapidly during IPL 2021.

A string of poor scores and disappointing team performances led the franchise management to make the dramatic decision to remove Warner from captaincy midway through the season. The move shocked fans, considering Warner’s contributions to the franchise over the years.

The situation worsened further when he was eventually dropped from the playing XI altogether. During the UAE leg of IPL 2021, Warner was repeatedly seen sitting in the stands watching matches instead of being present in the dugout alongside teammates, making the divide between player and management increasingly visible.

The fallout eventually reached its conclusion ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction when SRH officially released Warner from the squad.

Although several years have passed since the split, Warner’s latest Instagram interaction suggests that the bitterness between the former captain and the franchise may still remain unresolved.
