BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia hailed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s sensational IPL 2026 campaign and pledged the board’s support in helping the teenage prodigy reach the highest level of cricket.

Representing Rajasthan Royals, the 15-year-old enjoyed a historic campaign, finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 776 runs. His explosive batting approach was reflected in an extraordinary strike rate of 237.30, making him one of the standout performers of the season.

Following the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad, Saikia lauded the teenager and assured that the Indian cricket board would support his development in the years ahead.

“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a wonderful player coming up, and he has a bright future. BCCI will do everything to get him to the highest level of cricket,”

said Saikia after the title clash on Sunday night.

Youngest Orange Cap Winner Creates IPL History

Sooryavanshi’s achievements during the season rewrote several records.

At just 15 years and 65 days of age, he became the youngest player ever to win the Orange Cap. In doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan, who claimed the award at 23 years and 231 days.

The Rajasthan Royals sensation emerged as one of the biggest stories of IPL 2026, consistently dominating bowling attacks and establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.

Saikia also reflected on the recently concluded IPL season and congratulated Royal Challengers Bengaluru for successfully defending their crown.
