CSK is reportedly facing another setback as Dewald Brevis will miss out on the first 2-3 IPL 2026 matches due to side strain, joining MS Dhoni on the injury list.

Chennai Super Kings is facing another issue before IPL 2026, with Dewald Brevis missing out the opening phase due to a side strain. According to reports from The Times of India, Brewis will stay out of the first 2 to 3 matches.

Brevis had been retained for INR 2.20 crore. He impressed last season with 225 runs in 6 matches. He averaged 37.50 and maintained a strike rate of 180.0. He also scored 2 fifties during that run. Brevis played the T20 World Cup 2026 for South Africa. He made 207 runs in 8 matches at 146.80 strike rate.

The news adds pressure after MS Dhoni’s injury for CSK. Dhoni remains unavailable for the first 2 weeks.

Notably, Chennai Super Kings will enter IPL 2026 with multiple injury concerns. In addition to Brevis and Dhoni, Nathan Ellis will also miss the entire tournament with a hamstring injury.

Dhoni’s absence will impact CSK’s leadership and wicketkeeping roles. Sanju Samson will be prepared to handle wicketkeeping duties. However, early injuries have disrupted team combinations ahead of IPL 2026.
