ECB Confirm Jacob Bethell’s Return to UK From IPL 2026 Due to Finger Injury

ECB confirmed Jacob Bethell will return to the UK after suffering a left ring finger injury during IPL 2026.

Jacob Bethell will leave the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp early after suffering a left ring finger injury during IPL 2026. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed that Jacob Bethell will return to the UK for further medical assessment ahead of England’s first Test against New Zealand national cricket team at Lord’s on June 4.

“The England and Wales Cricket Board has agreed with Royal Challengers Bangalore that top-order batter Jacob Bethell will return to the UK after sustaining a left ring finger injury while playing in the Indian Premier League. He will be fully assessed and monitored by the England Men’s medical team on his return to determine his availability for selection for the Rothesay first Test against New Zealand at Lord’s, starting on Thursday 4 June,” the official statement read.

Bethell last played for RCB on May 17, opening the batting alongside Virat Kohli. He scored 11 runs from 7 balls as Bengaluru secured a 23-run win.

RCB signed the left-handed batter and spin option for INR 2.60 crore and he featured in 7 matches after replacing Phil Salt in the playing XI.
