Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been ruled out of the upcoming 50-over tri-series in Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury, the BCCI confirmed on Sunday evening. The batting all-rounder failed to recover in time to travel with the India A squad and will now undergo rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
India A will compete against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in the tri-series, which begins on June 9 in Dambulla. Ruturaj Gaikwad has replaced Parag in the squad and will also serve as vice-captain under Tilak Varma.

Parag carried the injury during the IPL 2026 playoffs but continued playing for Rajasthan Royals. RR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator before losing to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 at Mullanpur.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Earns India A Call-Up
Notably, selectors rewarded several young performers with places in the updated India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. Tilak Varma will captain the side, while Ruturaj Gaikwad takes over as vice-captain after replacing injured Parag.

The biggest talking point remains the inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following his sensational IPL season. The Rajasthan Royals opener smashed 776 runs in 16 matches and produced back-to-back 90-plus scores in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2. However, his brilliant 96 against Gujarat Titans failed to take RR into the final.
India A will begin the tri-series campaign on June 9.
