Harshit Rana Ruled Out Of IPL 2026: KKR Pacer Suffers Knee Injury | Reports

Harshit Rana has reportedly been ruled out of IPL 2026 after suffering a knee injury, leaving Kolkata Knight Riders searching for a replacement

Harshit Rana, the rising Indian pacer and a key bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders, has reportedly been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2026 season due to a knee injury. The franchise is yet to officially name a replacement for the 24-year-old fast bowler.

Rana sustained the injury while bowling in a warm-up match for India national cricket team against South Africa national cricket team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. After delivering just one over, he experienced discomfort and was forced to leave the field.

Following medical evaluation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed that Rana was unfit to take part in the global tournament. The injury has also put his participation in IPL 2026 in serious doubt as he begins the recovery process.

Surgery And Rehabilitation Plan

Reports suggest that the fast bowler has already undergone surgery for the injury. Medical experts have advised a detailed rehabilitation process before he can return to competitive cricket.

“Rana’s surgery was performed by Dinshaw Pardiwalla at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He was advised surgical repair of the lateral meniscus. Following surgery and a period of rest, he will begin rehabilitation and report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru,” TOI had quoted sources as saying.

The recovery process could take considerable time, which means Rana may remain unavailable for most, if not all, of the IPL 2026 season.

“While Rana has missed the T20 World Cup, he is also likely to be sidelined for a significant portion of the upcoming IPL, if not the entire tournament,” the quoted sources added.

KKR Face Big Bowling Setback

Rana’s absence is a major setback for KKR, as the young pacer has been a consistent performer for the franchise in recent seasons. His performances played a crucial role in strengthening the team’s bowling attack.

During the 2024 IPL season, Rana emerged as the most successful uncapped player with 19 wickets at an average of 20.16, contributing significantly to KKR’s title-winning campaign. He continued his impressive run in the following season as well, claiming 15 wickets, establishing himself as one of the key bowlers in the squad.

With the franchise now searching for a replacement, KKR will hope to find a suitable option to fill the void left by the injured pacer ahead of IPL 2026.
