Set 2 of the IPL 2026 mini auction delivered a mixed bag, with only two players finding buyers while the rest went unsold. England all-rounder Gus Atkinson entered the auction at a base price of ₹2 crore but failed to draw any interest from franchises, who appeared unconvinced despite his recent rise in international cricket.
Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, however, did not face the same fate, as Lucknow Super Giants snapped him up quickly at his base price of ₹2 crore, adding proven spin-bowling depth to their squad.
Indian all-rounder Deepak Hooda came up next at a reserve price of ₹75 lakh but surprisingly went unsold, with teams opting to look elsewhere. The bidding intensity returned when Venkatesh Iyer entered the ring, triggering a brief battle before Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured his services for ₹7 crore, making him the most expensive buy of the set.
England’s Liam Livingstone, despite his big-hitting reputation, found no takers at a ₹2 crore base price, while South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder also went unsold after entering at ₹1 crore. The set concluded with New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, another highly rated all-rounder, surprisingly remaining unsold at a base price of ₹2 crore.
