BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the IPL 2026 schedule will be released in phases, with the first 20 days announced soon due to upcoming elections in 4 states.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India will release the IPL 2026 schedule in two phases. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the first set of fixtures will arrive within 2 or 3 days. The initial announcement will cover the first 20 days of the tournament.
The board is waiting for confirmation of election dates in several states before finalising the full schedule. Assembly polls are expected in 4 states, including Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Officials will publish the remaining matches once logistical planning is complete. The 2026 season is expected to begin on March 28.
“We will announce the first 20-day schedule of IPL in 2 or 3 days after considering the election dates in a few states, and will announce the rest of the tournament schedule later,” Saikia told ANI.
RCB Confirm Split Home Venues for IPL 2026
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru confirmed their home venues for IPL 2026. The defending champions will play 5 home matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The remaining 2 home fixtures will take place at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
The update confirms Bengaluru’s return as the team’s main base. The venue remained unused for several domestic tournaments after a tragic crowd incident last season that caused 11 deaths.
KSCA chief and former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad also shared additional details about the season. Bengaluru will host the opening match and the tournament final. The stadium will also stage the opening ceremony and one playoff match during IPL 2026.
