Jack Edwards To Miss Entire IPL 2026 For SRH Due To Foot Injury

Jack Edwards

Jack Edwards has been ruled out of IPL 2026 with a foot injury, adding to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s growing concerns regarding injuries.

Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a foot injury, dealing a significant setback to Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the new season. The 25-year-old, who was the only uncapped overseas player picked in the auction, had been signed by the franchise for INR 3 crore.

This development comes as another blow for Hyderabad, especially after their regular captain Pat Cummins was already confirmed to miss the initial phase of the tournament while recovering from a lumbar stress injury. With two key overseas pacers unavailable, the team’s bowling combination takes an early hit.

Strong Domestic Form but Limited International Impact

Edwards entered the IPL on the back of an impressive Big Bash League campaign, where he picked up 19 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 18.47, playing a key role in Sydney Sixers’ journey to the final. Despite their loss to Perth Scorchers in the summit clash, his performances stood out.

Soon after, he made his international debut for Australia in a T20I against Pakistan in Lahore. However, it wasn’t the ideal start, as he returned figures of 0/25 in two overs and scored just five runs off six balls. He also featured in the Sheffield Shield for New South Wales, with his most recent match concluding on March 17.

SRH Left Short on Overseas Pace Options

With Edwards now ruled out and Cummins unavailable, Sunrisers Hyderabad are left with limited overseas fast-bowling options. England pacer Brydon Carse currently stands as the only foreign quick in the squad available at the start of the season.

In Cummins’ absence, Ishan Kishan is expected to lead the side, with Abhishek Sharma named as his deputy. Meanwhile, Edwards joins a growing list of Australian pacers sidelined due to injuries, including Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Ellis. Ellis has already been ruled out of IPL 2026, while Hazlewood is expected to return later in the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 28 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, hoping to overcome these early challenges.
