Bumrah remains in Karnataka and has not joined the MI squad yet. He will enter IPL 2026 after a strong T20 World Cup run. The 32-year-old claimed 14 wickets and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker. In IPL 2025, Bumrah picked 18 wickets from 12 matches. His economy rate of 6.67 stood out despite frequent 250-plus totals. Bumrah now has 183 IPL wickets, the highest for the Mumbai Indians.

The Mumbai Indians will start their campaign on March 29 against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. Head coach Mahela Jayawardene earlier confirmed rest for 4 players from India’s T20 World Cup squad. These players will link up with the team next weekend.

Overseas players have also returned home after international duties. They are expected to rejoin the squad soon. The team plans a 1-week training period before the opening match.
