Jasprit Bumrah picked his first wicket of IPL 2026 after going wicketless in five matches, ending a frustrating run in the MI vs GT match.

Jasprit Bumrah returned to form in IPL 2026 with his first wicket during the Mumbai Indians’ match against the Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad. The pacer struck on the opening delivery of the innings, ending a run of 5 matches without a wicket.

Bumrah removed Sai Sudharsan with a sharp delivery that moved away off the pitch. The batter attempted a cover shot without proper footwork. The ball took the toe-end of the bat and traveled to the cover region. Krish Bhagat completed a simple catch to give the Mumbai Indians an early breakthrough.

The wicket brought relief for Bumrah, who had shown visible frustration during his lean phase. Fans had also awaited his first success this season.

In the first innings, Tilak Varma took Mumbai Indians to 199/5 in 20 overs with an unbeaten 101 off 45 balls. He struck 8 fours and 7 sixes, reaching his century on the final delivery while batting at No. 5. Other batters struggled to support him. Hardik Pandya managed 15 before Mohammed Siraj dismissed him. Naman Dhir scored 45 but fell in the 13th over to Prasidh Krishna, missing a fifty.

Kagiso Rabada dented the top order early. He removed Danish Malewar for 2 in the second over. He then dismissed Quinton de Kock for 13 in the fourth over. Rabada struck again in the sixth over, sending back Suryakumar Yadav for 15 off 10 balls. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill had chosen to bowl first after winning the toss.
