Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani for the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
In a significant boost to their pace attack ahead of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have secured Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement for Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman.
The move comes after Muzarabani dramatically withdrew from the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he was playing for Islamabad United, opting instead to join the three-time champions in the Indian Premier League.
Mustafizur Rahman, who was acquired by KKR for ₹9.20 crore in the previous auction, was released by the franchise on BCCI directives amid India-Bangladesh political tensions.
This left KKR’s bowling unit vulnerable, especially with Sri Lankan star Matheesha Pathirana recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the T20 World Cup and young Indian pacer Harshit Rana sidelined for most of the season due to a knee issue.
Blessing Muzarabani To Join KKR Camp Soon
The 6-foot-8-inch-tall Muzarabani arrives in red-hot form. At the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the lanky Zimbabwean emerged as his team’s leading wicket-taker with 13 scalps, the fourth-highest overall in the tournament. His standout performances included crucial spells against Australia and Sri Lanka, showcasing his ability to swing the new ball and generate steep bounce on sub-continental pitches.
That height advantage and hit-the-deck ability make him a perfect fit for Eden Gardens’ conditions, where extra bounce has troubled batters this season.

His global T20 experience spans the ILT20, PSL, CPL and England’s Vitality Blast, where he has claimed 45 wickets at impressive economy rates. In the ILT20 alone, he picked up 22 wickets in 17 matches at an average of 20.09.
KKR’s batting depth remains formidable with the likes of Tim Seifert and Finn Allen in prime form, but their pace resources need reinforcement. Muzarabani’s left-arm angle and death-over prowess fill that void perfectly. Fans are eagerly awaiting the official announcement, but reports confirm the deal is done.
With Pathirana expected back soon, KKR’s revamped bowling attack now looks balanced and threatening. The Zimbabwean sensation could prove the X-factor as the Knights chase a fourth IPL title in 2026.
