Mitchell Starc’s injury setback keeps him out of three crucial IPL 2026 games, dealing a blow to Delhi Capitals despite their strong start.
In a significant setback for Delhi Capitals, star Australian pacer Mitchell Starc is expected to miss three more matches in IPL 2026 due to ongoing shoulder and elbow issues. As per reports, the left-arm quick is currently in Australia undergoing rehabilitation and is unlikely to rejoin the squad before April 20.
This means Starc will be unavailable for key fixtures against Gujarat Titans (April 8), Chennai Super Kings (April 11), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (April 18). His earliest possible return is now projected for the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 21.
Delhi Capitals Thrive Despite Star Absence
Despite missing one of their marquee signings, Delhi Capitals have made an impressive start to their campaign under the leadership of Axar Patel. The team has secured victories in both their opening matches, showcasing depth and balance in their bowling unit.

Starc Responds to Criticism During Recovery
While recovering, Starc addressed the ongoing speculation and criticism surrounding his absence. In a social media post, he clarified his situation and responded firmly to external opinions.
“Despite the opinions and views of certain individuals with their platforms in and through the Indian media, I am currently rehabbing and managing an injury in my shoulder and elbow, the extent of which I did not know during the Australian summer,” Starc said.
His return, whenever it comes, is expected to significantly enhance Delhi’s pace attack as they continue their push for a maiden IPL title.
