MS Dhoni Set For Chepauk Return During SRH Clash In IPL 2026 | Reports

MS Dhoni’s ‘Sheesha Man’ Secret Revealed By Former CSK Teammate

MS Dhoni is expected to attend CSK’s final IPL 2026 home game against SRH at Chepauk despite remaining unavailable for selection due to fresh injury concerns.

Chennai Super Kings icon MS Dhoni is expected to finally make an appearance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium during CSK’s final home game of IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18.

The development comes after the legendary wicketkeeper-batter remained absent from all match venues throughout the ongoing season due to recurring injury concerns.

Dhoni, who has not played a single match this season, had largely stayed away from public appearances on matchdays and preferred remaining at the team hotel even during Chennai Super Kings’ home fixtures.

However, reports now suggest that the former CSK captain will be present at Chepauk for the highly anticipated encounter against SRH.

Dhoni Unlikely To Play Despite Chepauk Presence

Although Dhoni is set to attend the match, he is unlikely to feature in the playing XI or even as an Impact Player. According to reports, the 44-year-old recently suffered another injury setback during a training session ahead of Chennai’s away fixture against Lucknow Super Giants.

The Indian Express reported that Dhoni injured his thumb while batting in the nets before the Lucknow trip. Despite travel tickets being booked for the journey, he eventually stayed back in Chennai to continue rehabilitation and recovery.

Interestingly, on the eve of the CSK vs SRH clash, Dhoni reportedly spent close to 30 minutes batting in the nets and showed no visible signs of discomfort while striking a few big shots cleanly. However, after the training session, he is understood to have decided against participating in the fixture as he is still not fully fit for competitive action.

Why Dhoni Missed Entire IPL 2026 Season

Dhoni’s injury troubles reportedly started before the beginning of IPL 2026 when he sustained a calf injury during pre-season preparations. The recurring issue ruled him out for several weeks and prevented him from taking part in the majority of Chennai’s campaign.

Even after recovering partially, Dhoni remained reluctant to return directly into the playing setup, especially with CSK grooming young wicketkeeper Kartik Sharma in his absence. The franchise management reportedly wanted continuity in the side rather than forcing Dhoni’s comeback while he was not fully match-fit.

Following the recent injury to Jamie Overton, there had been speculation that Dhoni could slot into the side due to the altered team balance. However, the latest thumb injury appears to have ended those possibilities, with CSK now likely to continue with South African all-rounder Dian Forrester in the squad setup.
