Mumbai Indians Announce Surprise Releases in IPL 2026 Pre-Auction Retention List

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have released eight players ahead of the IPL 2026 auction as the franchise reshapes its squad for the new season. The releases include Reece Topley, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Lizaad Williams, Karn Sharma, Bevon Jacobs and three uncapped Indian players.

The five-time champions enter the auction after a mixed 2025 campaign. Last year, they finished fourth on the league table with 8 wins from 14 matches under Hardik Pandya’s leadership. MI advanced to the playoffs by defeating Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator on May 30 in Mullanpur. Their journey ended in Qualifier 2 on June 1 in Ahmedabad, where they lost by five wickets to Punjab Kings after failing to defend a total above 200 for the first time in their history.
