Rajasthan Royals’ Next Captain? Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel Emerge as Front-Runners | Reports

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel have reportedly emerged as the top contenders as Rajasthan Royals’ next captain if Sanju Samson leaves, while Riyan Parag is no longer in the captaincy race.

Sanju Samson is reportedly set to part ways with Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction, with a potential trade to Chennai Super Kings in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran on the cards. Samson, who has captained RR since 2021, will leave a major leadership void at the franchise.

While Riyan Parag led the side in eight matches during the 2025 season, he is unlikely to take over full-time. According to reports from the Times of India, Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel have emerged as the frontrunners as Rajasthan Royals’ next captain.

Since making his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2020, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 2166 runs in 66 matches at an average of 34.38 and a strike rate of 152.86.

Dhruv Jurel, meanwhile, has impressed with his red-ball form, smashing two unbeaten centuries for India A against South Africa A last week. The wicketkeeper-batter, who debuted in the IPL in 2023, has accumulated 680 runs in 35 innings at a strike rate of 153.85.
