Rohit Sharma Working On Fitness To Appear In MI vs SRH Game | Reports

‘I Am Sorry’: Former Selector Regrets Leaving Rohit Sharma Out Of 2011 WC Squad

Rohit Sharma is nearing a comeback for Mumbai Indians, with a likely return against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29.

Mumbai Indians (MI) could receive a major boost ahead of their next IPL 2026 fixture, with Rohit Sharma expected to be available for selection. The former captain has been recovering from a right hamstring injury sustained on April 12 during a home clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Since then, Rohit has missed three matches against Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Chennai Super Kings, with the team management choosing a cautious approach to avoid worsening the injury.

Positive signs from training and recovery

Recent developments suggest that Rohit is progressing well in his recovery and is likely to feature in MI’s upcoming home match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29. The experienced batter has been working closely with trainers and coaching staff to regain full fitness, and there is growing confidence within the camp about his return.

“Rohit is working hard in the middle to get back to full fitness,” a source told Cricbuzz.

Rohit had made a strong start to the season, scoring 137 runs in four matches at an impressive strike rate of 165, including a half-century, and briefly holding the Orange Cap.

MI aim turnaround after poor run

Mumbai Indians are currently struggling in IPL 2026, sitting eighth on the points table with just two wins from seven matches. Their recent 103-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings has further dented their campaign, making the second half of the tournament crucial for their playoff hopes.

Head coach Mahela Jayawardene stressed the importance of consistency and focus moving forward.

“I feel that if we play our best cricket, we have a great chance, but the confidence, the focus, and the discipline have to be there for the next seven games. Well, I don’t know yet whether we need to win all seven, but obviously, starting off, I would like to do that – but let’s see how the tournament goes,” coach Mahela Jayawardene said after the CSK game.

Meanwhile, the MI squad has taken a short break and travelled to Jamnagar for a team bonding session. They are expected to resume training soon as they prepare for the crucial clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
