This development comes hours after Ravichandran Ashwin’s revelation about a trade between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants. It remains unclear whether the two players would be part of separate transactions or a single exchange. The deal might also turn into a straightforward cash transaction instead of a player trade.

Trade Discussions Underway

A Cricbuzz report cites insiders from Mumbai Indians who confirmed the ongoing negotiations. Sources told the media outlet that “the exchange swap is a possibility”.

An official announcement is expected in the coming days. The player retention list is scheduled for release on November 15.

Arjun Tendulkar has been with Mumbai Indians for the last few seasons. The left-handed all-rounder was picked at his base price of INR 20 lakh in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, he didn’t get any playing time in the recent season.

Throughout his IPL career, Arjun has played 5 matches. He has taken 3 wickets and scored 13 runs. Shardul Thakur could serve as a reliable alternative for Deepak Chahar. Chahar has been prone to injuries in recent seasons. Thakur’s addition would provide backup for the Indian pacer slot.

Both franchises have remained silent about these discussions. The BCCI requires all player exchanges to be officially announced. Reports indicate that the teams are still negotiating the terms of the potential trade.
