Sherfane Rutherford Joins MI at Existing Fee After Trade From Gujarat Titans

Sherfane Rutherford has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2026, with the West Indies all-rounder joining MI at his existing fee of INR 2.6 crore.

West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford will join the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2026 season after completing a trade from Gujarat Titans. Gujarat had signed him for INR 2.6 crore and he now joins Mumbai at the same fee.

“West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford is set to represent the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 season following a successful trade from the Gujarat Titans (GT). Acquired by GT for a fee of INR 2.6 crore, Rutherford will move to MI at his existing fee,” the official statement from IPL read.

Rutherford, aged 27, has played 44 T20Is for the West Indies. He holds the sixth-wicket record in T20Is after a 139-run stand with Andre Russell against Australia in Perth. Rutherford has appeared in 23 IPL matches, representing Delhi Capitals in 2019 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2022. He also spent seasons with Mumbai Indians in 2020 and Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024, although he did not feature in the playing XI during those campaigns.

His ability to accelerate quickly and deliver cameos adds to Mumbai’s batting group. Shane Rutherford also offers support with the ball through his right-arm fast-medium pace.


Shardul Thakur Rejoins Mumbai Indians Ahead of IPL 2026

Earlier, Mumbai Indians had completed another squad move on the same day by bringing in Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants for his existing fee of INR 2 crore. Thakur joined LSG during the 18th IPL season as an injury replacement. He went on to play 10 matches for the franchise. His arrival gives Mumbai an additional seam-bowling option with proven T20 credentials.
