Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 runs in the IPL 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad chose to field first after winning the toss.

SRH scored 194/9 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma led the charge with 59 off 22 balls. Heinrich Klaasen added 59 off 39 balls. Abhishek reached his fifty in 15 balls as SRH crossed 70 in the powerplay. However, wickets fell at regular intervals, and SRH slipped to 112/4 midway. Klaasen anchored the innings before his dismissal. SRH then lost their final 4 wickets for 17 runs.

Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj took 3 wickets each. Mukesh Choudhary removed Travis Head and Ishan Kishan early.

In response, CSK finished at 184/8 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson fell for 7 in the early overs. Ayush Mhatre played aggressively, scoring 30 off 13 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. He later struggled with an injury and got out.

Matthew Short scored 34 off 30 balls. Sarfaraz Khan added 25, while Shivam Dube made 21. CSK reached 114/5 in 11.5 overs, needing 81 from 49 balls. Eshan Malinga dismissed key batters, including Sarfaraz and Short. Nitish Kumar Reddy provided support with timely wickets. In the penultimate over, CSK required 27 from 8 balls but fell short by 10 runs in the end.
