SRH Hammer RCB by 55 Runs After Posting Massive 255 in Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs after piling up 255 for 4 in Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday night, posting an intimidating 255 for 4 before dismissing RCB for 200 in 20 overs in a match that was effectively over at the halfway stage.

SRH won the toss and chose to bat, and their openers made an immediate mockery of the bowling. Travis Head set the tempo with 26 off 16 before being bowled by Rasikh Dar at the end of the fourth over, but Abhishek Sharma was already well into his stride by then. The young left-hander hit 56 off just 22 balls, five fours, five sixes, a strike rate of 254, before being caught in the ninth over off Suyash Sharma. His 52-run second-wicket stand with Ishan Kishan barely had time to settle before he was gone, but the carnage had already been done.

Kishan hit 79 off 46 across the middle overs. His partnership of 113 with Heinrich Klaasen was the passage of play that truly buried RCB’s hopes. Klaasen was merciless, 51 off 24 balls, five sixes, before Krunal Pandya finally ended it in the 17th over. Nitish Kumar Reddy then launched three sixes in a 29-ball cameo off just 12 to finish the innings on a thunderous note. SRH plundered 16 sixes in total. Not a single RCB bowler went at under 12 an over, with Josh Hazlewood the most expensive at 55 from four.

Chasing 256, RCB never truly threatened. Venkatesh Iyer gave them a blazing start, 44 off 19 balls, but his dismissal in the fifth over, caught off Eshan Malinga, signalled the beginning of the end. Virat Kohli lasted just three balls after the powerplay, caught for 15, and with the required rate climbing beyond 23 an over by the 16th, RCB were coasting to a consolation score rather than a win. Rajat Patidar’s measured 56 and Krunal Pandya’s 41 added respectability, but RCB ended well short at 200 for 4.
