SRH Sign Gerald Coetzee as Replacement for Injured David Payne in IPL 2026

SRH have signed South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee after David Payne suffered an ankle injury, ending his IPL 2026 campaign.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have strengthened their squad by signing Gerald Coetzee for the remainder of IPL 2026. Coetzee replaces David Payne, who suffered an ankle injury during the season. Payne featured in 2 matches and picked up 2 wickets before his exit.

“Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for David Payne for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He will join SRH for INR 2 Crore,” the official release read.

Coetzee joins SRH as a right-arm fast bowler. He brings in international experience with 4 Tests, 14 ODIs, and 18 T20Is for South Africa. He has already taken 67 wickets across formats at the international level.

The pacer also carries IPL experience. He has played 14 matches earlier for the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians, taking 15 wickets. SRH secured him for INR 2 Crore.
