Sunil Narine Fit For KKR vs LSG Clash After Illness; Varun Chakaravarthy’s Participation Doubtful

Sunil Narine is set to return after recovering from illness, while Varun Chakaravarthy remains doubtful for KKR’s clash against LSG due to injury concerns.

Ahead of the abandoned Kolkata Knight Riders vs Punjab Kings clash, the spin duo Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy were out of the playing XI. While this was a rare sight, fortunately, before their next bout against Lucknow Super Giants on April 9, the West Indies veteran Sunil Narine has completely recovered from his illness and is set to return to action.

During the toss of the KKR vs PBKS clash, Ajinkya Rahane shared that while Varun Chakaravarthy had injury concerns, Sunil Narine was sick and hence couldn’t make it to the match.

The news wasn’t further revealed as there was no clarity on Sunil Narine’s illness except that he was unwell. However, as per a recent Cricbuzz report, Narine had some abdominal pain before the game, which ruled him out of the match.

Nevertheless, as good news, Sunil Narine trained on April 7 with the team and has now recovered well and is likely set to participate in the upcoming clash in KKR vs LSG. He looked fit on the field during training sessions and will be joining the squad soon.

Varun Doubtful, Green Resumes Bowling In Nets

Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy remains doubtful for the upcoming clash. The spinner is still recovering from the finger injury sustained while fielding against Sunrisers Hyderabad last week.

He had bandages and tapings wrapped around his fingers during the Punjab Kings clash sidelines, and as of now, with no clear timeline for his return, he is likely to miss out on the upcoming games.

On another positive side for Kolkata, Cameron Green, the Australian all-rounder who wasn’t allowed to bowl by Cricket Australia for the first two weeks of the tournament, was seen practicing in the nets with the ball.

Whether he bowls in the match or not remains to be seen. However, this progress seems like a huge boost for KKR, who have been struggling with bowling issues.

Nevertheless, Kolkata Knight Riders will get another opportunity, and with just one point from three matches, KKR would look to bounce back in the points table by winning the upcoming clash at their home, Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
