Rajasthan Royals endured a dramatic moment during their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians after Dasun Shanaka was run out following a terrible misunderstanding with Dhruv Jurel in the middle overs of the innings.
The incident took place on the third ball of the 11th over when Corbin Bosch bowled a delivery that Jurel guided behind point in search of a quick single. Jurel initially called for the run and Shanaka responded immediately, sprinting towards the striker’s end. However, midway through the run, Jurel suddenly changed his mind and turned back, leaving Shanaka stranded halfway down the pitch.
By the time Shanaka attempted to recover, both batters had ended up at the same end. Mumbai Indians fielders quickly capitalised on the confusion. Shardul Thakur collected the ball and threw it towards Bosch, who completed the run-out despite a slight fumble near the stumps.

The dismissal ended a dangerous innings from Shanaka, who smashed 29 runs off just 15 deliveries with three sixes at a strike rate of 193.33. His wicket came at a critical stage of the innings with Rajasthan Royals placed at 99/4 in 10.3 overs.
Shanaka’s Run-Out Halts Rajasthan Royals’ Momentum
Before the run-out drama unfolded, Rajasthan Royals were building momentum through a strong partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Dasun Shanaka. Jurel looked composed during his 38-run knock off 26 balls, while Shanaka provided the acceleration with aggressive strokeplay.
The unfortunate dismissal shifted the momentum back towards Mumbai Indians, who had opted to bowl first at the Wankhede Stadium. Shanaka’s wicket triggered another collapse for Rajasthan as MI tightened their grip on the contest.

Riyan Parag had earlier contributed 14 runs off eight deliveries, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 27 off 17 balls at the top. However, Mumbai’s bowling attack managed to strike regularly to keep Rajasthan under pressure throughout the innings.
