Tim David’s viral middle-finger gesture after RCB’s dramatic win over Mumbai Indians grabbed attention online.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Tim David found himself at the centre of controversy despite enduring a disappointing outing against Mumbai Indians during their IPL 2026 clash on Sunday.
The explosive batter, who was dismissed for a golden duck against his former franchise, remained active in the dugout and continued supporting his teammates throughout the tense run chase.
However, moments after RCB sealed a thrilling last-ball victory over Mumbai Indians, a viral social media clip appeared to show Tim David making a middle-finger gesture while celebrating the win. The footage quickly spread across various platforms, leaving fans divided and sparking widespread discussion online.

David, who previously represented Mumbai Indians in earlier IPL seasons, appeared emotional after defeating his former side in such dramatic fashion. Still, many fans were surprised to witness such a gesture during a high-profile IPL match.
As the video gained traction online, the authenticity of the footage remained doubtable. It also remains unconfirmed whether the gesture was actually made by Tim David during the RCB vs MI contest in Raipur.
Despite the controversy surrounding the clip, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India nor the IPL Governing Council has announced any punishment or disciplinary action against the Australian batter so far.
Andy Flower Penalised Over Heated Exchange With Fourth Umpire
While Tim David escaped disciplinary action, Andy Flower was officially penalised by the IPL Governing Council following an aggressive exchange with the fourth umpire during the match.
The RCB head coach was fined “15 per cent of his applicable match fee” after being found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
IPL, in its statement, said, “Andy was found to have breached article 2.3 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to ‘use of an audible obscenity during a match'”

Following the incident, the IPL clarified the exact rule under which Andy Flower was penalized. The league further confirmed that Andy Flower accepted the charge levelled against him and admitted to the offence. Match referee Amit Sharma imposed the sanction after reviewing the incident.
Although the focus of the night remained RCB’s dramatic victory over Mumbai Indians, the post-match controversies involving Tim David and Andy Flower have now added another layer of discussion to an already heated IPL 2026 encounter.
