Earlier this season, Patel matched the IPL record for the fastest fifty with a 13-ball half-century against Lucknow Super Giants, smashing five consecutive sixes.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings elected to bat first after winning the toss against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 63 of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The decision surprised many, including SRH captain Pat Cummins, because chasing sides had won 4 of the previous 6 matches at Chepauk this season. Cummins’ reaction at the toss quickly spread across social media.

Thousands of fans at Chepauk waited for MS Dhoni, but Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed at the toss that the veteran missed the game due to an injury despite being present at the stadium.
CSK made one change, bringing in Akeal Hosein for Gurjapneet Singh, while SRH retained the same XI. Chennai started aggressively as Sanju Samson smashed 27 off 13 balls and Urvil Patel added 13. However, Pat Cummins and Sakib Hussain struck during the powerplay to reduce CSK to 57/2 in 6 overs.
The match carries huge playoff importance. SRH, placed third, needs a win to confirm qualification, while loss would seriously hurt CSK’s chances.
