During the match against Punjab Kings, Kohli achieved another major milestone by crossing the 500-run mark in an IPL season for the ninth time in his career, the highest by any batter in tournament history. He has now also completed four consecutive IPL seasons with more than 500 runs.

Kohli played a vital innings of 58 runs off 37 deliveries against PBKS, helping RCB build momentum at the top of the order. The veteran batter currently has 542 runs from 13 matches this season at an average of 54.2 and a strike rate close to 165.

Meanwhile, Harpreet Brar has had limited opportunities in IPL 2026 and has featured in only two matches so far. Despite that, the spinner delivered an impactful spell against RCB by picking up two wickets.

Brar dismissed both Jacob Bethell and Devdutt Padikkal during his spell of 2/35. Historically, the Punjab Kings spinner has maintained a strong record against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL matches.

Playoff Qualification Scenarios For RCB And PBKS

The Dharamsala clash marked the 13th league-stage game of the season for both Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.

RCB entered the match in a strong position on the points table and required just one more victory to officially seal qualification for the playoffs. Their superior Net Run Rate also remains a major advantage in the race for a top-two finish.

Punjab Kings, however, found themselves under massive pressure after enduring five consecutive losses following an unbeaten seven-match stretch earlier in the season.

For PBKS, winning both remaining league matches remains crucial to controlling their playoff destiny. Another defeat would leave Punjab dependent on multiple other results to stay alive in the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
