Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal and Jos Buttler light up IPL 2026 with a hilarious exchange ahead of the Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans clash.

Ahead of the IPL 2026 encounter between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans in Mullanpur, a light-hearted moment between Yuzvendra Chahal and Jos Buttler grabbed attention. The duo, who previously shared the dressing room at Rajasthan Royals, reunited after moving to different franchises following the IPL 2025 mega auction.

In a video shared by PBKS, Chahal cheekily claimed dominance over Buttler with the bat. “Two years back, I smashed Jos Buttler – one over, 20 runs,” he said.

Buttler, however, responded with a witty comeback that quickly went viral: “(You) Can’t get (the ball) outside the 30-yard circle.”

Shreyas Iyer Calls for Fresh Start

As Punjab Kings gear up for their opening game, skipper Shreyas Iyer emphasized the need to move on from past performances and focus on the present season.

“See, last season is history now. We start from ball one. It’s important that we stick to the present and see to it that we enjoy each and every moment,” Iyer said in a video released by the IPL.

He also spoke about the strong backing the team receives at their home venue and expressed hope for continued fan support.

“It certainly feels like home. The love and the support the home team got last season it was phenomenal. And I’m hoping to see a lot of them coming in numbers this season and cheering us up. It doesn’t really feel like an away game,” Iyer added.

Ponting’s Influence and Rivalry Context

Punjab Kings head into IPL 2026 on the back of a strong 2025 season where they finished runners-up. Iyer credited head coach Ricky Ponting for shaping the team’s mindset and strategies.

“The main guy (Ricky Ponting) of our team. So he basically runs through all the chats, all the important talks that we have inside the dressing room. And I’m sure that we’ll be able to execute this season flawlessly,” he added.

The rivalry between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans has been evenly matched so far, with both teams winning three games each in their six IPL meetings, setting the stage for another closely fought contest.
