Aakash Chopra Hails SRH’s Death Bowling, Calls Them “A Beast Team” Ahead Of MI Clash In IPL 2026

IPL 2026 | SRH Outgun RR in Run-Fest, Chase 229 With Ease in Jaipur Clash

Aakash Chopra lauded Sunrisers Hyderabad’s improved death bowling and powerful batting unit ahead of their IPL 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has highlighted Sunrisers Hyderabad’s dramatic improvement in IPL 2026, especially crediting their exceptional death bowling ahead of their clash against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 29. After a slow start to the campaign, SRH have bounced back strongly, registering four consecutive wins to revive their season.

Chopra pointed out that while the team’s batting has been explosive, it is their bowling performance in the final overs that has made the biggest difference. Backing his analysis with numbers, he noted how SRH have dominated in the death overs phase.

“The SunRisers Hyderabad are on a winning spree. They have won four consecutive games. Where have things changed for the SunRisers Hyderabad? This team has an economy of 9.17 in the last four overs, the best amongst all. They concede 36 runs in four overs on average. The Mumbai Indians concede nearly 10.75 runs per over,” Chopra said, speaking on his YouTube channel.

Malinga, Sakib, Cummins Power SRH Bowling Unit

Chopra credited SRH’s late-overs success to their pace attack, particularly Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain, who have delivered consistently under pressure. Malinga has emerged as one of the standout bowlers of the season, picking up 14 wickets, while Sakib made an instant impact with seven wickets in just four matches, including a four-wicket haul on debut against Rajasthan Royals.

The return of captain Pat Cummins has further strengthened the bowling unit, with the Australian pacer delivering a tight spell of 1/27 in his comeback game in Jaipur. Chopra emphasised how this trio has transformed SRH into one of the most dangerous bowling sides in the tournament.

“You can give credit to Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain for that, and Pat Cummins has also come now. That is where the world has changed. The rise and rise of Eshan Malinga. Interestingly, in that one phase, they are the best amongst everyone. Who would have thought we would talk like this about Hyderabad?” he added.

Explosive Batting Unit Completes SRH’s Dominance

Apart from their bowling, SRH’s batting lineup has been equally dominant this season. Abhishek Sharma has led the charge with 380 runs at a stunning strike rate of 212.29, while Heinrich Klaasen has anchored the middle order with 349 runs. Ishan Kishan has also continued his strong form, contributing 312 runs to the team’s campaign.

Chopra praised the depth and consistency of the batting unit, highlighting their ability to post and chase big totals with ease.

“They needed to chase only once, which was the last match, and they chased there as well, and beat RR at their home, where Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan were absolutely flawless, and Heinrich Klaasen came later and did the job. This team has scored more than 200 runs six times. They are a beast team,” he said.

Currently placed fourth on the points table with five wins from eight matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad look like a well-rounded side and will aim to secure a playoff spot as early as possible in IPL 2026.
