India received a major boost ahead of their T20 World Cup fixture against Namibia as star batter Abhishek Sharma was discharged from hospital. The opener had been battling a serious stomach infection and was admitted on Monday, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming match.

Abhishek, along with the rest of the Indian team, had attended a team dinner hosted by head coach Gautam Gambhir at his residence. However, he left early after reportedly feeling unwell and was later admitted to hospital before the crucial Namibia encounter.

Ahead of the Namibia clash, Tilak Varma addressed the media during the pre-match press conference and confirmed the positive update on Abhishek’s health.

“When we reached Delhi, he was taken to hospital for examination. Today he was discharged. We have one more day to go so we’ll decide tomorrow,” Tilak Varma confirmed the update.

With a high-profile match against Pakistan scheduled for Sunday, the Indian team management may consider resting Abhishek for the Namibia game. Sanju Samson is likely to open the innings if Abhishek is not fully fit.

What Happened To Abhishek Sharma?

Abhishek was part of India’s playing XI against the USA but was dismissed for a golden duck. He did not field during the match, with Sanju Samson coming in as his substitute. Later, it emerged that Abhishek had played despite suffering from a high fever and an upset stomach.

The Indian squad had reached Gautam Gambhir’s house together for dinner. However, concerns arose when Abhishek left early and appeared visibly unwell. It was later confirmed that he was suffering from a stomach infection and remained under medical observation.
