Abrar Ahmed May Skip The Hundred Despite £190,000 Contract | Reports

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed may reportedly miss The Hundred despite signing with Sunrisers Leeds for £190,000.

Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed attracted major attention after the Sunrisers Leeds signed him in the Hundred players’ auction. The franchise paid 190,000 pounds for the World No. 3 T20I bowler. Sunrisers Leeds shares ownership links with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kavya Maran. Soon after the signing, the move triggered strong reactions online. The franchise also faced heavy criticism on social media, and its X account later went offline.

However, Abrar’s participation in the tournament now looks uncertain. According to reports from The Times of India, Pakistan’s international commitments could clash with the competition schedule. Pakistan will tour the West Indies from July 15 to August 7. The tour includes 2 Tests and a four-day warm-up match. The Hundred runs from July 21 to August 16. Abrar also needs clearance from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi before joining the league.

“He might not play The Hundred, given the fact that Pakistan is playing a two-match Test series against West Indies,” a source was quoted as saying.

“It is a lot of money. His agent has put his name in the auction, which means he is confident of getting the NOC. He is also among the few current Pakistani cricketers who have a good relationship with the PCB chief. The chances of him playing in The Hundred are 50-50,” it added.

Notably, Abrar Ahmed’s earnings from The Hundred would place him among the top 8 highest-paid players. Current estimates suggest a 50-50 chance of his participation. Further updates are expected soon.
