Mohsin Naqvi asked India to send one of their players in early November to collect the Asia Cup trophy during a planned ceremony.
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has declined to send the Asia Cup trophy to India, proposing instead that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) collect it in person.
Naqvi suggested a ceremony in the first week of November, asking India to bring one of its players to receive the trophy. His response followed an email from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia requesting the trophy’s handover.
Reports from PTI indicate that the ACC chief also asked BCCI officials to collect the trophy from Dubai. However, BCCI is unwilling to accept the proposal, leaving the issue unresolved and likely to be discussed during the upcoming ICC meeting.
“The BCCI secretary, BCCI’s ACC representative Rajeev Shukla and representatives of other member boards including Sri Lanka Cricket and Afghanistan had written to the ACC president last week over handing the trophy to India,” the ACC source was quoted as saying.
“But his response was that someone from BCCI should come to Dubai and take the trophy from him. So that matter has still not moved. BCCI has made its stance clear that it won’t be receiving the trophy from him. So the matter will most likely be decided in the ICC meeting,” the report added.

The Asia Cup trophy remains at the Asian Cricket Council headquarters in Dubai under the supervision of chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Reports from October 10 indicated that Naqvi has issued strict instructions preventing the trophy from being moved or handed over without his direct approval. With the trophy still secured in Dubai, the handover process continues to face delays.
