Mohsin Naqvi Repeats Condition as Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Stays in Dubai

India’s Asia Cup 2025 trophy remains in Dubai three months after the final, with Mohsin Naqvi insisting India must collect it from him to resolve the ongoing standoff.

Three months after India defeated Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, the champions are yet to receive the trophy. The issue has arisen because the Indian team declined to collect the trophy from the Asia Cricket Council president, Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board and holds a government role in Pakistan.

As a result, the trophy remains with the ACC in Dubai. Naqvi has now repeated that India must collect the trophy from him in person if they want to resolve the matter. He has maintained that no alternative arrangement will be considered.

Naqvi has also indicated that cricketing protocol between the two sides will remain strictly equal. He stated that if India avoids customary on-field gestures, Pakistan will follow the same approach.

“There is a status quo on trophy handing. If India wants the trophy, they must send their captain to Dubai and receive it from me,” Naqvi told Telecom Asia Sport.

“If India does not allow their players to shake hands with our players, then it will be dealt with on equal terms, and there will be no compromise. We have no interest in shaking hands with them,” he added.

Mohsin Naqvi also confirmed that the PCB will formally approach the International Cricket Council. The complaint will focus on the conduct of the Indian Under-19 players during the Junior Asia Cup final, which he described as unacceptable.

“We will be writing a letter to the ICC to complain about the behaviour of Indian Junior players during the final of the Junior Asia Cup, which was not acceptable,” he added.
