Australia Crush England By 8 Wickets To Take 1-0 Ashes Lead

Australia defeated England by eight wickets in the first Ashes Test in Perth, powered by Travis Head’s rapid century.

Australia secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over England on day two of the first Ashes Test in Perth. The win gives the hosts a 1-0 series lead after Travis Head’s blistering century chased down a 205-run target with ease.

England began Day 2 by quickly dismissing Australia for 132, claiming a 40-run first-innings lead. However, their advantage quickly evaporated as Mitchell Starc struck in the first over, dismissing Zak Crawley for a duck.

England’s Second Innings Collapse gets Australia In The Lead

Despite a 65-run partnership between Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, England’s batting collapsed dramatically. Starc and Scott Boland led Australia’s bowling attack, reducing the visitors to 88-6.

Starc claimed three wickets in the innings, completing a 10-wicket match haul. Boland finished with 4-33, while debutant Brendon Doggett removed three tailenders as England were bowled out for 164 in 34.4 overs.

Set 205 to win, Australia’s chase was dominated by Travis Head’s explosive batting. The opener smashed 123 runs from just 83 deliveries, reaching his century in 69 balls. His innings included 16 fours and four sixes.

Marnus Labuschagne provided strong support with an unbeaten 51 from 49 balls, while captain Steve Smith hit the winning runs. Head’s aggressive batting transformed what had been a low-scoring match into a comfortable Australian victory.

The comprehensive win gives Australia early momentum in the five-Test series, with the second match scheduled to begin in Brisbane on December 4.
