Cricket Australia have unveiled a revamped ODI squad for the Pakistan tour, with Under-19 sensation Oliver Peake receiving his maiden call-up while several IPL-bound stars have been rested.

Cricket Australia have officially announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan national cricket team, with multiple senior stars missing out because of IPL commitments and workload management.

The selectors decided to rest marquee names like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Josh Hazlewood from the ODI assignment against Pakistan.

The decision comes as the IPL 2026 season approaches its knockout stage. Notably, Sunrisers Hyderabad, represented by Head and Cummins, remain strong contenders to qualify for the IPL final scheduled on May 31. Cricket Australia’s move is aimed at carefully managing the workload of its key multi-format players ahead of a packed international calendar.

Oliver Peake Headlines New-Look Australian Squad

Mitchell Marsh will captain the Australian side during the three-match ODI series. While the squad misses several experienced pace bowlers, the batting lineup still carries strong depth through names like Josh Inglis, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Matthew Renshaw, and Marnus Labuschagne.

The biggest talking point from the squad announcement remains the inclusion of young batter Oliver Peake. The Under-19 captain impressed heavily during the 2026 Under-19 World Cup, where he amassed 234 runs, including two centuries, at an average of 78.

Australia’s selectors are reportedly looking at Peake as a long-term investment as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 ODI World Cup. His maiden international call-up is expected to provide valuable exposure at the senior level.

Meredith, Stanlake Return As Australia Reinforce Bowling Attack

Australia have also recalled fast bowlers Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake to the ODI setup. Stanlake returns to the national side for the first time since 2019 after delivering impressive performances in the Australian One-Day Cup, where he claimed seven wickets at a strike rate of 28. Meredith, meanwhile, earned a recall following a strong Sheffield Shield campaign in which he picked up 30 wickets in 10 innings.

The squad also includes Nathan Ellis, who recently missed IPL 2026 because of a hamstring injury before being replaced by fellow Australian Spencer Johnson.

Australia’s spin attack for the Pakistan ODIs will be led by veteran leg-spinner Adam Zampa alongside Tanveer Sangha and Matthew Kuhnemann.
