Australia Call Up Glenn Maxwell For Five-Match India T20I Series

Australia added uncapped pacer Mahli Beardman to their squad for the final three T20Is against India as senior bowlers rested ahead of the Ashes.

Uncapped fast bowler Mahli Beardman has been added to Australia’s squad for the final three T20Is against India. The young quick, who impressed in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup last year, is in contention for his first international appearance.

Beardman’s inclusion is part of a reshuffle in the Australian setup, with the team rotating players as several senior stars step aside to focus on their Ashes preparations. Alongside Beardman, veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (games 3-5), left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis (games 4-5), and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Philippe (all games) have also joined the squad.

Beardman earned the call-up after a series of strong domestic performances earlier this month. He was part of Australia’s victorious Under-19 World Cup squad in South Africa in 2024, where he claimed 10 wickets during the tournament to help his team secure their fourth title.

The additions to the squad will allow experienced fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott to sit out the later matches of the series and prepare for the Ashes with red-ball cricket at domestic level.

Australia have also included uncapped all-rounder Jack Edwards and spinner Matt Kuhnemann in the squad for the final ODI against India in Sydney on Saturday. Top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne has been released to play for Queensland in domestic cricket.

Australia’s ODI and T20I Squad For Rest Of White-Ball Series

Australia currently lead the three-match ODI series 2-0 after a close two-wicket win against India in Adelaide on Thursday. Glenn Maxwell continued his explosive form, striking several towering sixes during the Mumbai leg of the series.

There are two Sheffield Shield matches scheduled before the first Test of the summer against England in Perth, beginning on November 21. Selectors are expected to monitor these games closely as part of preparations for the five-match Ashes series, which also contributes to the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle.
