India Bag Comprehensive 48-Run Win Against Australia In 4th T20I At Carrara

Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, bowled exceptionally well to hand a massive win to India in the 4th T20I.

India sealed a commanding 48-run victory over Australia in the fourth T20I at Canberra to take a good 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Batting first, India put up a competitive total of 167/8, built on solid starts and late acceleration. Shubman Gill anchored the innings with a well-paced 46 off 39 balls, while Abhishek Sharma provided early momentum with 28 from 21 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav added a quickfire 20 off just 10 deliveries, striking two sixes, before Axar Patel’s unbeaten 21 from 11 balls powered India past 160. For Australia, Nathan Ellis was the standout bowler with figures of 3/21, while Adam Zampa also picked up three wickets but proved expensive, conceding 45 runs.

Chasing 168, Australia faltered against India’s disciplined bowling attack and were bundled out for 119 in 18.2 overs. Captain Mitchell Marsh (30 off 24) and Matthew Short (25 off 19) gave the hosts a brisk start, but their dismissals triggered a collapse. Axar Patel (2/20) removed both Short and Josh Inglis, while Shivam Dube (2/20) dismissed Marsh and Tim David, halting Australia’s chase.

Washington Sundar produced a sensational late burst, claiming 3 wickets for just 3 runs in 1.2 overs, including Marcus Stoinis, Xavier Bartlett, and Adam Zampa, to wrap up the innings. Jasprit Bumrah added one wicket, reaching 99 career scalps in T20Is.

Australia’s middle order crumbled under pressure as no batter managed to build a partnership after the powerplay. From 67/2, they slumped to 119 all out, with Varun Chakaravarthy and Arshdeep Singh chipping in with one wicket each. India’s all-round bowling effort ensured a comprehensive win despite no standout individual performance with the bat. With this victory, India continued their T20 dominance over Australia and will head into the final match aiming for a 3-1 series triumph.
