WATCH | Babar Azam Consoles Steve Smith After Dropped Catch in BBL Match

Babar Azam was seen consoling Steve Smith after a dropped catch during a Big Bash League match, easing speculation about a fallout between them after last week’s on-field incident.

An on-field moment in the BBL between Babar Azam and Steve Smith has eased recent speculation of a rift between the duo. During the Sydney Sixers’ match against the Brisbane Heat, Smith put down a difficult catch in the fifth over. Babar immediately walked across to console him with a reassuring gesture.

There was also a brief fielding mix-up later, with both players chasing the ball. Smith recovered on the next delivery and asked Babar to pull away.

Notably, in their previous game, Smith had refused a single and chose to keep the strike in the 11th over to use the Power Surge. He then hit 32 runs in the next over. Babar was dismissed soon after, and his frustration was visible. Smith also showed anger during a later fielding mistake.

Before the next match, Smith had played down talk of any tension and said the issue had already been resolved.
