Babar Azam urged Pakistan to stay calm and focused ahead of the high-pressure T20 World Cup match against India.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has acknowledged the pressure that surrounds every India vs Pakistan match. The rivals meet in Match No. 27 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, February 15.

Babar admitted Pakistan’s recent record against India in global tournaments has added pressure. He noted the huge expectations and worldwide attention attached to the fixture. The senior batter said the team must stay calm and focused to handle the occasion.

“Like it has been talked about, the Pakistan versus India clash is always filled with high intensity. Fans from both the countries are involved, and in fact, the entire world is watching you play. So the expectations hit a different level. We’ve had our learnings from the clash in the past but know that it is important to keep ourselves cool and relaxed. Yes, the excitement is always there, but as much as you can keep your attention, the results can be favourable,” Babar told ESPNcricinfo.

Notably, Sunday’s Group A match carries added importance. The winner secures direct qualification to the Super Eights with one match left. India leads the table with four points and a net run rate of 3.050. Pakistan also has four points, but their net run rate stands at 0.932.
