Jasprit Bumrah is reportedly set to play all 9 remaining Tests as BCCI focuses on reviving India’s WTC campaign, with workload management and ODI rest planned.
India’s selectors have begun planning for a busy international schedule despite IPL 2026 ongoing. Jasprit Bumrah’s workload remains a major focus for the team management.
According to reports from the Times of India, the board expects Jasprit Bumrah to play in all 9 remaining Tests in the current World Test Championship cycle. India currently sit 6th in the standings after a home series whitewash.
The team will play 2 Tests each against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. They will then host Australia for a 5-match series next year. Management aims to balance workload carefully while keeping Bumrah fit for Tests.
“The attempt is to keep Bumrah fit enough to play all Tests. He is expected to play the four Tests in Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The challenge will be to keep him fresh for the five Tests at home against Australia. The selectors won’t mind resting him for some ODI series. He played T20 cricket after a gap of two years in the Asia Cup last Sept and still delivered,” the report quoted a source as saying.
The immediate goal is to revive India’s WTC campaign. India may also rest several senior players for the one-off Test against Afghanistan after IPL 2026. The board plans to assess player workload before finalising the squad.

Some players could return for the 3-match ODI series against the same opponent. The decision will depend on fitness and workload management. A final call is expected near the end of IPL 2026.
