Tim Southee Confirms Cameron Green Will Soon Resume Bowling For KKR

Ex-India Cricketer Slams KKR’s ₹25.20 Crore Cameron Green Buy Ahead of IPL 2026

Tim Southee reassures fans that Cameron Green is close to returning as a full all-rounder for KKR in IPL 2026.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have remained confident in their high-profile signing Cameron Green, despite his limited impact so far in IPL 2026. The franchise invested a massive INR 25.20 crore in the Australian all-rounder during the mini auction, viewing him as a long-term successor to the retired Andre Russell.

However, Green has yet to make a significant contribution, managing only 20 runs in two appearances. His inability to bowl in the opening matches raised questions, especially given his reputation as a genuine all-rounder.

Injury clarification sparks debate after MI clash

The situation drew attention after KKR’s opening match against Mumbai Indians, when Green did not bowl. Captain Ajinkya Rahane responded to queries by directing reporters to Cricket Australia. Shortly after, Cricket Australia confirmed that Green was dealing with a lower back injury.

This revelation explained his absence with the ball, though it sparked debate among fans and analysts regarding his match readiness and role within the team.

Tim Southee provides positive update on Green’s bowling return

KKR bowling coach Tim Southee has now provided a reassuring update, confirming that Green is progressing well in his recovery and is expected to resume bowling soon.

“Cameron’s been bowling well, tracking obviously his rehab and giving himself back to being able to bowl in games. He’ll continue to do that. We’re in regular contact with Cricket Australia, and I’m sure we’ll see Cameron bowling soon,” Southee said to the reporters at the pre-match press conference on Sunday.

He further emphasized that the process requires time and careful management to ensure full match fitness.

“All of a sudden, you can’t bowl in the game. That’s why he has been bowling in the nets; he has been working on getting his match-fitness ready, and that takes time. There is constant touch between us and Cricket Australia. I’m sure it’s not far before he starts bowling,” Southee added.

Despite the optimism surrounding Green’s recovery, KKR have endured a difficult start to their IPL 2026 campaign, losing both of their opening matches, including defeats to Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at home.
