Sunrisers Hyderabad dominated with bat and ball to crush Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs after posting a massive 226.
Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs in their IPL 2026 clash, successfully defending a massive total of 226/8 at the end of 20 overs. The game saw explosive batting from SRH’s top order followed by a disciplined bowling effort that bundled KKR out for 161 in just 16 overs.
SRH got off to a flying start with Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma taking charge in the power play. Head smashed 46 off just 21 balls, while Abhishek was equally aggressive with 48 off 21 deliveries, helping the team race to 82 inside 5.4 overs. Despite losing quick wickets in the middle phase, the momentum remained firmly with the hosts.
Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a well-compiled 52 off 35 balls, ensuring stability after the early blitz. Nitish Kumar Reddy then provided the late flourish with a quickfire 39 off 24 balls, pushing the total past the 220 mark. SRH finished strongly at 226/8, with contributions coming at a brisk run rate of 11.30.
For KKR, Blessing Muzarabani was the standout performer with the ball, picking up 4 wickets for 41 runs in his four overs. Vaibhav Arora and Anukul Roy chipped in with two and one wicket respectively, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain the flow of runs.
KKR Fail In Pressure Of Chasing Big Total
Chasing 227, KKR started in explosive fashion with Finn Allen smashing 28 off just 7 balls. However, his early dismissal triggered a collapse as wickets fell at regular intervals. Ajinkya Rahane managed only 8, while Cameron Green was run out cheaply, leaving KKR under pressure early in the chase.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi fought back with a valiant 52 off 29 balls, and Rinku Singh added 35 off 25, but the required rate kept climbing. The middle order failed to capitalise further, and KKR eventually lost their last seven wickets for just 41 runs.
